It was a great pleasure to visit this establishment based on a recommendation from a friend. I must say, it surpassed my expectations. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the customers in line were equally pleasant. The sandwiches were absolutely delicious, and the selection of cakes and other treats was truly impressive. I would definitely recommend it and will be visiting again when I return home.

I drove down here from Hudson, FL because I remember loving their sandwiches and desserts. However, it seems that their recent change in management caused the quality of their food to go down. My bf and I ordered the Golden Gate sandwich (I added red onion to mine) and it had way too much peach chutney to the point that it took over the overall flavor of the sandwich (I even scraped some of it out of mine and it was still too much). I’ve had this sandwich before and it usually has an appropriate amount of the peach chutney but this time it seems like it was just slopped on it. The sandwiches also did not come with much meat at all (see pic). My bf also got a slice of rum cake (not pictured) and it wasn’t as good as the last time we had it. Typically the rum cake is very dense like a pound cake with plenty of rum flavor but this time it tasted like a regular yellow cake that was too light (remember it should be dense) and barely any rum flavor throughout the cake slice. I was very disappointed and I don’t think it will be worth coming back unless they make the changes necessary to bring quality back.

WOW…..this place has the most amazing sandwiches and cakes. Had the Turkey Club that consisted of delicious turkey breast, crispy bacon, Jarlsberg cheese, lettuce and tomato with a mustard and mayo spread and all in a deliciously soft pumpernickel bread. This sandwich was very large!! Also had the Arugula Salad that had a huge amount of arugula, crispy bacon, chopped hard boiled egg, blue cheese crumbles and beets. There is a choice of dressings. And to top it off, dessert was a lemon cake that melted in my mouth. This place is ALWAYS crowded and is highly recommended.

This place is a MUST when visiting Tampa. The portions are generous and the prices, while higher over the years, are reasonable. The Golden Gate is a great, crispy sandwich. I do recommend ordering a half sandwich if you’re eating it as a single person for a meal. I would like to see their sides not served in plastic containers when eating in. It’s wasteful.

I have known of this place for years……why did we wait so long to experience this awesome and tasty place? We ordered a Monte Cristo sandwich $13.25, a Turkey Chef Salad $14 and a slice of Hummingbird Cake $8.50. The sandwich is the size of two sandwiches. I ate 1/4 and I am taking the rest home….it’s huge. This is THE Tastiest sandwich I remember eating. Even though the menu is huge, it will be difficult fir me to think about ordering another kind. The salad was a good dice and so fresh and tasty. We’ve never had Hummingbird Cake before and the best way I can describe it’s majesty is that it’s like a super moist and nutty banana bread with pineapple and a nice and not extremely sweet Cream cheese icing.
The staff are all very nice and helpful.
I never comment on restrooms because there is never anything remarkable to share….not the case here. Restrooms are multiple and unisex. Each one is a room unto itself. All seem to be handicap accessible and feature changing tables. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this wonderful restaurant and we cannot wait to return.

Not kidding when i say the best strawberry cake i’ve ever had!! So moist and i ate the next day, it was still moist!! Absolutely fabulous. I spent all day thinking about going home to eat this cake. Highly recommend.

?Amazing!! Food is so good! I ordered the monte Cristo sandwich and it was delicious! The sandwich was big enough for two people. I also ordered a banana cake to go… it was so good. Customer service was great! I will come back ! ❤️

We spontaneously stopped here after picking up my dad from the airport and it did not disappoint! Our sandwiches were so fresh and huge servings so we had the other halves for lunch the next day. I had the turkey club and he had the club. Bacon was perfect, bread delicious. A bit pricey but once I saw the size of the sandwiches it evened out. We will need to go back to try the desserts.

Also the bathrooms are all individual rooms and very clean, a big bonus for moms with littles!
